Earthquake Relief for Japan

Many of you have been concerned with heavy hearts about Japan.  Please keep the people of Japan in your prayers in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami, that through this tragedy, the Lord’s grace may abound in tangible love to the people of Japan. Praise God, in all of our contacts with family, friends and missionaries in Japan, all have physically survived, but have varied amounts of property damage.

As a church, we have decided to help with the relief efforts for Japan.  We have decided to support CRASH (Christian Relief, Assistance, Support, and Hope).  This organization is supported by several well known Christian Organizations like JEMS, RJC, and many others.  If you’d like to support the relief effort, you can do so by making a check out to SLZJCC and memo it to Japan Relief. Any funds received will go directly to CRASH.

Below is more information about CRASH, you can also check them out on their website www.crashjapan.com

What is CRASH?

Christian Relief, Assistance, Support and Hope (CRASH) is a network supporting Christians to do relief work in Japan and around the world.  CRASH equips and prepares churches and missions to be there to help their communities when disasters strike and coordinates Christian volunteers to work with local ministries in the event of a disaster.

CRASH is available to conduct Disaster Volunteer Training seminars (DVT) for churches, schools or missions with a focus on pastoral crisis intervention and practical volunteer leadership.

CRASH has produced a child-safe place trauma intervention curriculum called “Operation SAFE” that is used to help children in evacuee centers recover from trauma.

CRASH has provided leadership and coordination for volunteers responding to typhoons, landslides, blizzards and earthquakes in Japan and internationally in cooperation with the JEMA and the JEA.

Mission Statement
The mission statement for CRASH is to equip Christians in Japan to be ready when disaster strikes to show the love of Jesus in practical and effective ways.  Our method is to provide a model of action, accurate information and volunteer training to a broad network of churches and ministries across Japan.

CRASH is endorsed by JEMA the Japan Evangelical Missionary Association and works in cooperation with the Disaster Relief Commission of the Japan Evangelical Association.
